We could see the brewery behind the store, and it would have been really cool to get a tour of the place. We were greeted warmly, and taken to our seat. We had a reservation, which was required at that time, no matter if it was during peak or off-peak hours. Moreĭuring our stay in Vermont in the summer, we visited Harpoon Brewery for some beer tasting. Hopefully if you’re reading this you had a better experience. Nothing against the wait staff-they were great, if understaffed-but the management was weirdly rude. I’m sure everyone working was stressed, and it probably had to do with the liquor license, but it wasn't explained, we didn’t know, and the reaction from the manager was really uncalled for. The manager says he’s being nice by offering the closed cans, and asks us to go to our cars. We tried to explain that we didn’t know and weren’t from the area and apologized. It was all of our first time and we were immediately apologetic. The manager says we were told not to drink the cans. They offer a closed can and tell us to leave with the closed cans. The manager follows us and takes the three beers. She says we can empty the beers and they’ll give us pints on the patio. The friends open the beers, take a sip, our waitress runs out and says we can’t do that. No instructions when he checked out, and our friend tips on the can purchase. One friend goes in and grabs a couple of cans and checks out fast. We might have stayed for another round and found it strange that we were rushed out with so many open tables on the patio. We notice that aside from the one party who took over our table, there were six empty tables on the patio. So we move out and hang around corn hole while they finish the drinks. We had about 4 empty tables around us at this point but again, we said OK and moved. The waiter said we could finish our drinks elsewhere if we wanted, given the incoming reservation, and offered up the corn hole area.

We tipped 60$ on the now 150$ bill because we really appreciated the waitstaff and all of us are of the mind that if we can afford a meal out we can afford to support the folks serving us. There were a lot of empty tables around us out doors but again, we get it and didn’t know their reservation system so gave the benefit of the doubt again. We didn’t worry much about the mix ups-it only became an issue when what was about to happen did.Ībout 4:30 we were wrapping up and were told to leave before five as a courtesy to the 5pm reservation. A few of our beers arrived mixed up, but several of us worked service industry and we get it. round and really appreciated that.Īll five of us ordered several drinks and food. No big deal, we waited and were sat about 15 minutes later.

Arrived at 2, but they had sat someone at the reserved table. We met here from out of town for a friend’s birthday.
